Der Wallach zeigt sehr gute Grundgangarten, die sich sowohl für den ambitionierten Freizeitreiter als auch für den sportlich orientierten Reiter anbieten. Er ist stets motiviert bei der Arbeit. Zudem kennt er Lehrgänge und stellt sich flexibel und mit viel Spaß auf unterschiedliche Herausforderungen ein.

Er ist sehr menschenbezogen und hat Freude am Umgang. Ob beim Putzen, Führen oder bei Bodenarbeit – er ist stets aufmerksam und freut sich über jede Zuwendung. Auch Ausflüge zum See sind kein Problem für ihn.

Im Umgang mit anderen Pferden ist der Wallach ebenfalls unproblematisch. Er ist herdenverträglich und kommt in der Herde gut zurecht, ohne Dominanzverhalten zu zeigen. Auch in neuen, ungewohnten Umgebungen ist er souverän und geht entspannt auf neue Situationen zu.
